How can you convert B1/B2 visa to green card in USA?

So, in this blog, I want to tell you about the B1/B2 visa, and how you can convert it into another visa, because normally what happens is that the people who come on a visit get this B1/B2 visa — some people get it for 5 years, some for 10 years, it depends on which passport you are applying with. But at least 5 years you get on a Pakistani passport.
And on this visa, you can visit the USA multiple times — for example, you can stay for 6 months at one time. After these six months, you have to leave the USA, and then you can come again.
Now, some people want to convert it into a permanent visa or green card, so I will tell you the options regarding that.
Actually, this visa is called a non-immigrant visa.
Non-immigrant means that on this visa you can only visit or do business meetings, etc.
If you want to live here permanently, then you have to apply for a permanent visa, which includes investment visas, work visas, study visas, and family/marriage-based visas.
The good thing is that the USA allows you to change this visit visa (B1/B2) into a permanent visa.
That’s a very good thing about the USA, because generally other countries don’t allow you to change your visa status if you’re on a visit visa — especially in Europe.
But here, the USA allows it.
You can change your status, and it’s called “change of status.”
You have to file an application with the US immigration department, through which you say, “I want to change my status,” and you apply for the new visa you want.
For example, if you get a job offer in the USA, then you can apply for a work visa — you may get a green card or work visa.
Similarly, you can convert to a study visa, or even investment visa like E2 visa, which is very popular for business purposes.
If you apply within the USA, the benefit is that sometimes the filing process is faster, or your visa gets processed sooner, because US visas usually take a long time when applied from abroad.
So if you apply from within the USA, it can be easier.
But you have to be very careful when changing your status inside the USA, because there are certain requirements and some legal considerations.
For example, if you come to the US on a visit visa, you should stay at least three months before applying for any visa change or status change.
If you apply before that, there’s a higher chance your visa might get rejected.
And the second important thing is that you should do it through a lawyer — a professional immigration attorney who has done such cases before.
That way, it will be easier for you and the chances of rejection will be much lower.
Because there are legal documents and requirements involved that only a lawyer properly understands.
You can also contact World Immigration Hub - Immigration Services in USA regarding this — I provide consultancy services, whether it’s about US visas or other permanent or visit visas for Europe, or any immigration-related questions.
We provide consultations, including a 30-minute call, and a complete package that includes 3 months of support.
But this blog was about how you can come to the US on a visit visa and then change your visa.
It is absolutely possible in the USA.
There are different requirements, different processing times, and you should do it through a lawyer properly.
But the fact is, you can change a visit visa to a work visa, study visa, investment visa, or business visa, and stay here long-term, even apply for a green card from within the US.
You just need to discuss your case and get more information.
